BRANDT Agronomy Update: Central Illinois Weather

the forecast in the spring can pose some tough
conditions for farmers in central Illinois. Typically in April you’ll have a rain storm
and then it will cool off and warm back up. As that happens we want to make sure we’ve
got plenty of nitrogen, sulfur and boron. Our elements are very mobile and those mobile
elements, the environment because of the soil being cool wont produce those so we have to
provide those. Corrigan says good news if you’re able to
plant ahead of the major predicted rain event for this week. each rain event could push us off an easy
two weeks if we get a 3 or 5 inch rain because we’ll have pockets int he fields that are
too wet. You could get to parts of the field maybe
60-70% of the fields is ready to plant but you cant get to those other areas. So it’s very difficult to get back in and
get them planted later. Even with the rough storm headed our way Corrigan
knows the nicer weather will be back soon. And farmers should be thinking about the foliar
applications sooner than later. The one is BRANDT Smart Trio. It contains a lot of zinc and manganese and
those two products assist with that metabolism the herbicide helps the plant to break that
herbicide down and uses it as food and then the boron stimulates the root growth and the
nutrient movement in the stabilization of the plant. For more information check out www.brandt.co
