Best Kids Gardening Tools

If your kids are like mine they love to get
out and get dirty when playing outdoors. Why not put their love of dirt to good use? Let them develop their green thumbs while
they are young. All you need are some kids gardening tools
and you are ready to get started. It doesn’t matter your child’s age, even the
youngest of kids can help in the garden. Start off easy by showing your child where
to dig a small hole to plant a new seed for your seedling plant. Use some small kids gardening tools and show
your child how to use it correctly. This is a great learning opportunity. Teach your child that different holes sizes
and depths are needed for different types of plants. You can show your kids how to plant, but don’t
do all of it for them, let them try through trial and error to do it on their own. Kids learn best through hands-on activities
and experiences, so avoid the temptation to take the shovel out of their hands and do
it yourself. Be patient and turn it into a fun activity
that will not only teach your child something, but will develop loving memories as well. Some great kids gardening ideas would be to
find plants that grow really fast in your environment. If they sprout up quickly, your child is more
likely to maintain more interest. If kids need to wait for weeks to see any
results for their efforts they may give up too quickly. Another kids gardening activity would be to
pick some vegetables or fruits from your garden and eat them together. If they can see it, pick it and eat it they
will start to appreciate what a garden can provide for them. In addition to having some kids gardening
tools, you may want to give them a space that is just for them to have their own “kids garden”. Do not worry about it looking perfect. In fact, the rows don’t even have to be straight,
this is just to let them experiment. This is a great way to teach your children
responsibility. Once their plants have fully matured they
will be filled with the pride and accomplishment they have achieved through their hard work
and diligence. Don’t make your children use adult sized tools. There are kids gardening tools made specifically
for their little hands. Size is not the only benefit either, they
are not nearly as sharp as regular garden tools so your children can plant and be safe
while working in their garden. If you don’t want your children getting dirty,
you can even buy child sized aprons for them to put on. This will protect their clothes and ease your
need to do as much laundry. Just be sure they put on some clothes you
don’t mind getting dirty, because we all know that kids aren’t the neatest creatures. If your children will be working with your
garden you’ll want to keep it as chemical free as possible. Thankfully there are alternatives you can
use to keep the weeds and insects at bay. One method is to use boiling water around
your plants. You will want to make sure the kids don’t
use the boiling water, that is one thing they should wait to do when they are older. Gardening can be an amazing experience for
kids and can build fun family memories they will remember for years to come. Enjoy this time together while they are young.
